Get Certified

Who can be certified?

  • Electrical distribution professionals
  • Distributors
  • Manufacturers
  • NAED members and non-members
The requirements are:
  • Demonstration of competence mastery for the position through a comprehensive exam and
  • Years of service in the electrical industry

Certification Requirements
  • CEP-IS - Inside Sales
    • High school or GED equivalent
    • 18 months full-time experience in an inside sales position
  • CEP-OS - Outside Sales
    • Associate or technical degree OR a high school diploma or equivalent and five years of industry experience, of which three years must be in an outside sales position.
    • Five years of industry experience, of which two years must be in outside sales. NOTE: For candidates who use the work experience equivalent to meet the educational requirement, that work experience is sufficient to meet the industry experience requirement. No additional industry or outside sales experience is required.

Recertification requirements

Certification renewal is required every three years. To maintain their certified status, certificants must submit an application documenting that they have completed 30 hours of Continuing Education Units as defined by the International Association for Continuing Education and Training.
